Biography
Jeff earned his doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh in exercise physiology. He has held academic positions at Boston University, Ohio University, and the University of Colorado. He is certified as an Exercise Specialist from the American College of Sports Medicine and as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (with Distinction) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He is a past Chairman of the Executive Council of the NSCA Certification Commission, sits on the NSCA Exam Development Committee, and has consulted extensively with the Chinese Olympic Committee for their preparations leading to the 2008 Olympics. His areas of specific emphasis lie in sports medicine, physical therapy, exercise physiology, SportsVision training, and strength training and conditioning.
Jeff has a very active and varied athletic background. He actively competed in swimming, lacrosse, wrestling, downhill skiing, water skiing, track and field, and soccer. During all of his athletic endeavors he was one of the first to integrate supplemental strength training and conditioning into the regular training practices of each sport. He has coached a wide variety of sports at all levels from youth recreational players to Olympic and professional athletes, to include their coaches. He has worked extensively with other experts in the field of strength training and conditioning on developing a comprehensive progressive plyometric training program for young athletes of all ages and skill level. Jeff also has expertise in helping people with total joint replacements to enhance their quality of life with exercise and physical fitness.

Jeff ’s expertise in the fields of sports medicine, physical therapy, exercise physiology, SportsVision, and strength training and conditioning allow him to help athletes plan a comprehensive training program for most sports. His experience with rehabilitation can assist athletes in returning to their pre-injury levels of conditioning.
Jeff has also spent many years working on preventative training programs to help athletes avoid some of the most common injuries obtained in sports. He specializes in progressive training and the integration of sport specific exercises and activities into the strength, conditioning, and rehabilitation process. Working with Dr. Tom Wilson (see our SportsVision section), he most recently has been integrating SportsVision training into the periodized training phases for a variety of sports.
